Food Drive Challenge

Our food drive for Community Care and for Beacon is underway. We have 4 more days to collect all the food that we can! This is an excellent opportunity with multiple benefits!

The food we bring in will bless those in our community that are experiencing difficult times.
We are the hands and feet of Jesus.

Thanks to Mr. Louis VandenBurg and another generous donor, every pound of food brought in for Community Care will earn up to $4 for our school! This is so exciting for our organization!

Also, classes who have met the challenge of an average of 5 pound per student will also receive a treat. What's not to love about this arrangement?

It's not too late! Student have until Friday morning to fill up their classroom barrels to overflowing!

The class with the highest average of food will win the challenge and receive and extra special treat! And remember, you are not limited to just 5 pounds. The more we gather, the more we all benefit!

Here's where we stand so far...:
JK - 85 lb...challenge completed! But they're hoping to fill the barrel to the top. Awesome!
SK - 75 lb...need 30 lbs
Gr. 1 100 lbs - the leader so far! Challenge completed! (But will they keep the lead?)
Gr. 2 - 50 lb...need 10 lbs
Gr. 3 - 80 lb...need 20 lbs
Gr. 4 - 25 lb...need 40 lbs
Gr. 5 - 55 lb...need
Gr. 6 - 20 lb...need 75 lbs
Gr. 7 - 65 lb...need 35 ;bs
Gr. 8 - 90 lb...need 5 lbs!

Great work so far!! Who will bring the most? Stay tuned!

Easter Chapel

Our weekly chapel focused on Easter this week as we prepare our hearts and minds for Good Friday and Easter. It was great to see so many parents, grandparents and friends today!

So many of our students were involved in chapel today! It is wonderful when we can bless each other with our gifts for God's glory.
Our Grade 8 students shared a play with us on Order Discovering, our throughline for this month.

The JK-Grade 3 students sang "Alive, Alive" for us.
Our Jesus is Alive, Alive Forevermore!

We had different classes playing the orff instruments for us. Here Gr. 3 shares an Easter song.

We also were treated to some praise and worship led by the Beacon Direction.
It is so awesome to see the enthusiasm of these students as they perform for His glory!

Gr. 1 + 2 shared the Easter memory work they have been working on.

Gr. 6 sang Man of Sorrows

We also enjoyed a video presentation by The Skit Guys called A Very Special Easter.

May you be blessed this weekend!
Christ is Risen!
Christ is Risen indeed!

Creation Enjoying

Today we had our last chapel on the throughline Creation Enjoying.
We gathered in our cross-graded GIFT groups (Growing In Faith Together).

It is always neat to see students of all ages working together!

We were given the task to find pictures of creation enjoying. Students looked for things that they do and would like to enjoy out in God's world.

Each GIFT group made a collage of the pictures that they found. There were a lot of things we love to do and more we'd love to try some day!

We then gathered together as a student body to worship with word and song.

God has made so many amazing and wonderful things and He wants us
to enjoy what He has made.

How much He must love us!

Creation Enjoying

This month our throughline is Creation Enjoying.

Professor Avery Squinch paid us another personal visit. The students were happy to see him in person again!
He helped us to see where and how we are enjoying creation around us.

Part 2

Our Grade 8 students reminded us to be CE and not CC.
Which one are you?

Fine Arts Festival

Oh come, let us sing to the Lord; let us make a joyful noise
to the rock of our salvation!
Psalm 95:1

On Wednesday, students from Niagara area Christian Schools gathered to celebrate the gift of music. It was wonderful to celebrate together!

"Daniel"
Our junior grades sang two songs in a choir together.

"Unto Us"

Our senior band also did a wonderful job with the 2 selections they had:

There were many solos, duets, round and recorder. It was wonderful to fellowship with others from our broader Christian family.

What a wonderful way to create beauty and enjoy God's creation of music!

Creation Discovering

Our throughline for February is Creation Discovering.

What is Creation Discovering?
When we celebrate and discover God’s beautiful creation!

Our chapel began with The Astronauts Creed (A responsive reading of Psalm 19)

We can celebrate the gift of having eyes to see, ears to hear, and hands to touch and create.

We reflected on the poem written by James Weldon Johnson entitled The Creation.
(a youtube version of the poem is below)

What a delight it is to be curious about God’s world, to celebrate God’s incredible creation, and to develop the confidence to look at our environment with the joy of critical awareness.
Share with us this month as we focus on Creation Discovering. Our students would love to hear comments from you  in our comment section on where you discover the taste, smell, sounds, touch and sight of beauty in creation!

Beauty Creating

Last Wednesday was our fourth weekly chapel on Beauty Creating.

God's fingerprints are everywhere. That was the theme of this week's chapel.
Beauty is around us in God's creation.

Our JK and SK class led us in singing "Hip Hip Hooray"

Our grade two students created beauty through music.

Our Grade One students dismissed us with the blessing to "Go Now in Peace".

We then met with our GIFT groups (Growing In Faith Together).
These are groups made up of Grade 1-8 students.

Each student was given a heart and was asked to put 2 or 3 fingerprints on it.

Each student then put the heart in the hallway
under the title "God's Fingerprints are Everywhere!"

 As Gordon Spykman says,
"God's creation is evidence of the caring hand of the Creator reaching out...

...to secure the well-being of His creatures,
of a Father extending a universe full of blessings to His children."
