We Love Our Grandparents and Special Friends!

We're blessed to know that we are loved
By someone wise and true,
Someone who loves us as we are
That someone, of course is you.

You listen not just when we smile,
But even when we grumble,
Although you sometimes have to say
We shouldn't always mumble.

We want you to know we love you too;
 We really do adore you.
We appreciate the things you do,
And thank God daily for you.

It's no secret that we love our grandparents and special friends! Some live near and some live far and some have graduated on to glory. Regardless of the circumstance, we are happy to celebrate the special people in our lives.
Thank you grandparents and friends for coming and seeing us in our place of work!

It was an enjoyable day!

Track Meet

Why are we smiling? Just over a week ago, our entire school body was invited to attend the Niagara area Christian schools track meet. It was hosted by Calvary Christian School at Oakes Park in Niagara Falls. Our students joined students from 4 others schools. They ran and jumped, played and snacked and met some new friends! We were happy to be invited and attend this event and our students really enjoyed the opportunity for some extra track and field fun!

Easter

This morning we had our weekly chapel with a special focus on the Easter story.

We welcomed Pastor Bayne from Cornerstone Community Church.
He told us the Easter story, a sad and happy story!

We worshipped with Word, visual art and song.

The Grades 1, 2 and 3 shared the Easter story:

and the JK/SK class sang with their recycled instruments:

Other students led us in worship with song
(Alleluia, He is Coming)

Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said.Matthew 28:5,6
Blessings as you reflect this weekend on Jesus' death and resurrection. Christ has risen. He has risen indeed!

Battle of the Books

What has got this group going crazy? Books!

Since the beginning of school, 9 faithful junior students and 6 faithful senior students have read 8 books....twice! (and in one case 4 times)

These students then met once or twice a week  for the two months before the tournament preparing by reviewing the minuscule details of the books.

April 4 the teams traveled to John Knox where they competed against 8 other teams testing their knowledge of the books.

The Senior team finished in 2nd place behind their arch rivals, Hamilton.
The Junior Team finished a close match where there was only five points separated second from fourth.  We are proud of both teams for their hard work!

Earth Keeping

"Everyone, in his imagination, can go to the most beautiful places on earth. Perhaps it is a mountaintop with a forever view, or a long, white-sand beach. Maybe it is the spray and the thunderous roar of a waterfall or the quiet, gentle sway of a seemingly endless golden field of wheat. These places can help us to have a Garden of Eden experience. The Garden must have been an incredible place, not only because of the tangible presence of God, but because of its beauty. The writer of Genesis says “And God saw everything that he had made, and it was very good” (1:31).
We need to reclaim the world/universe and relearn how to treat all things contained in it (natural resources, environment, water, trees, farm land) with respect. By doing this we respect the One who gave us this job! - D. Monsma, Teaching For Transformation

Today we began thinking about the throughline Earth Keeping.

Our Grade 3 students led us in a choral speaking piece based on Genesis 1 and 2.

We then watched this video:
The World Gives Us Garbage, We Give Them Music

We noticed that instead of looking at things as garbage,
they are redeeming it by turning it into something beautiful.

This month we will continue to dig deeper into how to answer God's call to His creation.
