This month our throughline is Earth Keeping. It coincides perfectly with the new life we see God bringing outside with the spring weather. April also contains Earth Day, a day when there is a special focus on earth keeping awareness.
Last week in chapel, our students were reminded what God calls us to do. He has put us in dominion over creation... to care for and to keep.
We are enjoying learning this new song this month: You're Beautiful by Phil Wickham
We learned some about global warming
...and had a "throwback" earth keeping reminder from some of our students.
Then, we went outside to DO something!
Some groups started creating a garden.
Some groups planted some seeds to put in our garden.
We hope to see pumpkins and flowers in our gardens!
And some groups worked on cleaning up our yard.
Today is earth day!! What better thing to do than to get out and care for our earth!
So, for our chapel today, our Grades 1-8 classes boarded buses and
headed to the Terry Fox trail in St. Catharines.
Armed with rubber gloves and big plastic bags, we set to work.
There was a LOT of garbage in a small space.
That's better!
Here's one group of students and their findings. Over 8 bags! The second group collected as much garbage as well.
Psalm 24:1
The earth is the Lord`s, and everything in it, the world and all who live in it.
